Privacy at Korden
Last updated 10 June 2026 · Early access
Korden is local-first by design. The work you do in the desktop app — your repos, terminals, and crew worktrees — stays on your machine. This page explains the small amount of data we do handle, and why.
What stays on your machine
The Korden desktop app runs locally. Your source code, repositories, terminal sessions, and the git worktrees your crews work in are stored on your device and are not transmitted to Korden's servers during normal local use.
AI requests are sent directly from your machine to the model provider you connect — your Claude plan, your own API key, or a local model — under that provider's terms. Korden does not proxy, intercept, or retain those prompts or completions.
What we do collect
- Account details — your email address and basic profile, so you can sign in and we can tie a download to your plan. Sign-in is handled by Amazon Cognito; you can use email, Google, or GitHub.
- Billing information — processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number; we keep only the subscription status and identifiers Stripe returns.
- Transactional email — we use Resend to send account and billing emails (verification codes, receipts, trial reminders).
- Cloud sync & Cloud workspaces (optional, off by default) — when you turn these on, the specific data you choose to sync (such as memory, session metadata, or shared workspace content) is transmitted to our servers over TLS so it can sync across your devices or team.
- Basic operational logs — minimal, privacy-respecting request logs needed to run the website and account services.
How we use it
We use the above only to operate the product: authenticate you, deliver downloads and updates, process your subscription, send the emails you'd expect, and provide optional cloud features. We do not sell your personal data or share it for advertising.
Where it lives
Account, billing, and any opted-in cloud data are hosted on Amazon Web Services in the United States. Access is restricted to the systems and people who need it to operate Korden.
Your choices
- Leave Cloud sync off and Korden remains fully local.
- Request a copy of your account data, or ask us to delete your account, at any time.
- Cancel your subscription whenever you like.
