What is Agentic AI?

Agentic AI is artificial intelligence that pursues a goal over multiple steps — planning, using tools, and checking its work — not a single one-shot response.

An agentic system turns a high-level objective into a sequence of actions: it decides what to do, does it, observes the result, and adjusts. In coding, that means investigating a codebase, editing files, running tests, and opening a pull request.
