What is Local-first software?

Local-first software runs on your own device and keeps your data there by default, syncing to the cloud only when you choose — not stored on a vendor's servers.

For developer tools, local-first means your repositories, terminals, and AI work stay on your machine — better for privacy, security, and offline use.

Korden is local-first by design; cloud sync is opt-in and off by default.
